Thorncat passed last night.

She was our eldest cat, and a bit over 13 years old. Some of you might
remember me posting about getting her as a kitten

We found out her kidneys were going a couple of years ago when she had
surgery for cancer. The theory was that since the mass had wrapped
around her urethra it exacerbated the impact cancer can have on the
kidneys, and caused damage.
We were trying to hold the line against further kidney degeneration, but
they got a little bit worse every year. Then she got aenemia, then she
got a UTI, then she quit eating at all.

She had gotten to the point where if she was still alive this morning I
would have probably been on the phone to the vet to discuss extreme
options.
It is sad, but it was time.

I feel so sad for your loss. My Reese Boy, a little winnie dog is 8 and
1/2 years old and starting to have back problems. I had heard that they
usually end up being taken on the last trip to the vet sometime after they
are 8 years old. His problems seem to have started all of a sudden and we
watch him carefully to keep him from jumping off the bed. It is hard, and
we hope to keep him another year or two. All of our pets are part of the
family!

Ya, it sounds like Thorncat's time had come. 13 sounds young to me, but I lost my last two cats within a month of each other at 18 and 13 years so now it does not seem so young. It is hard to lose a member of the family, so sorry for you

I think 13 is young as well, but she had been ill. One thing or the
other and we probably could have kept her in reasonable health, but all
of them together were just too much for one small cat.

Jiji is still quite upset.
He keeps looking all through the house, and has thus become even worse
about doors than usual. After each circuit he comes to each of us one at
a time, meowing franticly and pawing us to make sure he has our attention.

I am sooooo sorry about your cat passing, as I know what this is like. They are your children and you love them, you want to keep them forever. Lost Blackfoot(Siamese sealpoint) male to kidney failure. Thinking the kidneys make them toxic and so they quite eating. He was the most loving cat and would nibble my ear in a show of affection. Wait awhile and get another cat as they are good companions. Each one has a different personality.

Oh honey, I just had to put my 14 yr old Yorkie Tia down on Friday. My
heart is aching as well. Love to all of you.

Here's a memorial photo album I did. You don't have to be a Facebook

I am so sorry Nightmist. This time seems to arrive too quickly for our
pets.
