I keep a couple of boxes for things that go to charities, plus my NIN box.

One box is for things I have made. Patterns I wanted to do, or materials I wanted to try that have no place to go within my family.

One box is for things that people give us that we have no use for. There seem to be an awful lot of people that have an attitude about "home made". I want what I want and if I cannot buy what I want I make it, plus I truly hate shopping. Some people find out I make clothes and coats and bedding and what have you, and they bring over a bunch of stuff assuming we are in dire straits. Never mind that I am a sewing professional. So I usually have a goodly big box of things that don't fit anyone, don't work in my household, or have such a reek of arrogant self-righteousness about them that I cannot bear to look at them.

When something dire happens and a call goes out, I just sort through my boxes and send what meets the need.

Nice of you to keep "extras" to help those in need. I do this too, but
don't have many things in my container. I sometimes get with a friend to
make up her grandkid's play clothes.

Hello Jack,
Where would one send a quilt to help these people. I did not see an address to ship a quilt to.

Those kids were doing it through World Vision, a charity I have
heard of but don't know much about. They are international,
though they started in the US.

I prefer to "keep it local" and am sewing for our county medical center pediatric unit.
