Hi:

While looking for the Radiant Stars pattern I ran into the web page
for Quilt Camp in the Pines (and Desert), in Sedona.

Wow, that sounds like a great retreat. The think I like is that you
can take two or three classes since they are 2 to 3 days each.

Has anyone gone there? How does it work? Do you have to find your
own place to stay or do you stay at the site? How much does it cost
(or is the cost just the cost of the classes)?

Oh boy, I just might skip Asilomar next year. I've always wanted to
visit Sedona.

Doesn't Sandy Foster do that one? Sedona is beautiful but I
am biased. I'd take the desert over the ocean any day (except
in August!)

Yup, Taria -- Sandy Foster does do that one. ;) And I'd take the desert
over cold weather any day -- even in August! After all, air conditioning
helps immensely. <G>

Well Sandy, maybe we will meet there next year. It sure sounds like a
lot of fun and it's not too far to drive. I have a friend who visits
Sedona frequently and she may come with me so we can share driving.

What would be perfect would be if I could swing both this one and
Asilomar. What bliss that would be!

really? I wouldn't take anything over the ocean.... when I searched for
postdoc positions I looked in Boston, Berkeley and Seattle - my only
requirement is that they were close to the sea... makes me peaceful!
Must be because I grew up by it...

...15 minutes from Laguna beach for me. can count on one hand
the amount of times I got down there. I'm sure I drowned in
a past life! Ocean just seems lonely and desolate to me.
Fog is the creepiest. Guess everyone is different but know
I am the minority.

http://quiltcamp.com/index.shtml Is that the link you found? I believe the
camp is at Northern Arizona University and the accommodations are dorms.
You can always email Audrey and ask. I knew her years ago when she worked
at the Quilted Apple in Phoenix.
That's a nice line up of teachers, isn't it?

Mardi, I go there every year! I've been going since 1998 and I love it
-- you can go for the entire week or just for a day, whatever you like.
The cost is simply the cost of the classes and the registration fee,
plus living expenses. You can stay in the dorm there (the fee for that
includes meals), or you can stay in a hotel and fend for yourself for
meals; that's what I do, since I'm not big on cafeteria food. ;) It
takes place on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff,
which isn't far from Sedona, and there are lots of evening activities
(optional). This year I'll be taking three classes: a one-day Celtic
applique class from Nancy Chong, a one-day machine quilting class from
Kathy Sandbach, and a two-day setting class from Sharyn Craig. I really
prefer the multi-day classes, but this is what appealed to me this time.
<g> I don't stay longer than four class days, since I'm usually on
"overload" by that time. ;)
