There's nothing I've found that's better than Snowy Bleach for
brightening up vintage textiles. Except that now I can't find Snowy
Bleach anywhere locally (Reston in Northern Virginia). Nor have I
been able to find it on the Internet. Can anyone help?

According to http://www.needleworkguildmn.org/launderi.htm
"Snowy Bleach is distributed by Reckitt Benckiser (formerly Reckitt Colman
before the merge) and comes in both a powder and a liquid. It can be
purchased at K-Mart, WalMart, and Target stores around the country. Reckitt
Benckiser's Consumer help line is 1-800-228-4722 if you have any further
questions regarding Snowy Bleach."

Thanks for the phone number -- it put me on the right path. When I
called, I got a recorded message that said that they can't provide
retail outlets since their products are sold via distributors but that
those stores carry many of their products. Unfortunately, in this
area, none of them carry Snowy (I've already checked.)

HOWEVER, some of their products can be ordered over the phone and
Snowy Bleach is one of them. About $2.70 for a 20-oz box plus
shipping. To order, call Reckitt Benckiser at 800.456.9477.

Do keep in mind that Snowy really is bleach. It took out the black in my DMC
cross stitch recently. I admit I was pretty desperate because the needlework
had led a hard life and was really grubby. Up until then, I thought it was
perfectly safe. Nay. Polly
