There is an online game called patchworx that I often play. It is
available on Bigfish Games and many other sites.

Here is an article talking about it and showing a few screen shots:

Occasionally I think about how I might make one of these into an actual
quilt, and the first thing I would do is either print out one of the
pictures onto graph paper or save it as an image and put it into
something like inkscape that I can put grid-lines over it.

Then I suppose I would use that to work out how much fabric I would need,
what patterns, etc.

Then I would go fabric shopping.

Then the fabric would sit on my sewing table for a few weeks or so,
because that is just how I sew.

Then I would start cutting the fabric and actually quilting.

Sounds like that is good planning! I have found the planning is my favorite
part and I don't always get to making the quilt!

Hello Brian,
I use to oil paint pictures, landscapes, flowers and etc. After my drawing the design on the canvas I would set it some place where I could see it all the time. Over two or three weeks I would see what needed to be changed or added to complete my picture. Glad you are doing the same thing because ideas will come to you or you will see something you want different. Good luck.
