There is an online game called patchworx that I often play. It is
available on Bigfish Games and many other sites.

Occasionally I think about how I might make one of these into an actual
quilt, and the first thing I would do is either print out one of the
pictures onto graph paper or save it as an image and put it into
something like inkscape that I can put grid-lines over it.
Then I suppose I would use that to work out how much fabric I would need,
what patterns, etc.
Then I would go fabric shopping.
Then the fabric would sit on my sewing table for a few weeks or so,
because that is just how I sew.
Then I would start cutting the fabric and actually quilting.
